2010 Precision Indoor Personnel Location and Tracking for Emergency Responders
5th Annual International Technology Workshop
Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA
details and registration
This Workshop will provide a forum for researchers and developers working in the important area of indoor location and tracking of emergency response personnel to share technical knowledge and to define the state of the art. The focus of this workshop is zero pre-installed infrastructure tracking, that is systems that do not require any previously installed wiring or equipment in the target building. Further, the focus is on systems which provide complete tracking and position information on all equipped personnel to the incident command post. Simpler approaches ("homing devices") will also be considered for inclusion in the Workshop. A session will be dedicated to the physiological monitoring of first responders. This year NIST will host a session investigating standards development for location and tracking systems. Select representatives of the governmental and user communities will participate.

Join us for the fourth installment in the Summit Series. This Summit will have something for everyone, from federal and state policy makers to local EMS managers and hospital administrators to individual EMTs. This year’s theme will be Beyond Old Boundaries – Exploring New Frontiers. With the co-location of the Summit at the Divide with the International Roundtable on Community Paramedicine (www.ircp.info), we will have the opportunity to stretch our imaginations about what could be for rural EMS and trauma systems. Building on last years’ discussions of lessons learned from the theaters of conflict, regionalization and the use of telemedicine to overcome barriers of distance, we will explore additional options for improving access to emergency care in rural and frontier areas. A strong roster of speakers from the U.S. will be augmented by international experts both at the podium and in the audience.
Attendees of the International Roundtable on Community Paramedicine will receive a $50 discount on their Summit at the Divide registration. Registration for the Summit at the Divide includes complimentary attendance at the International Roundtable on Community Paramedicine morning sessions on Wednesday, August 11. Presented by the Critical Illness and Trauma Foundation with support from Western Eagle County Ambulance District, Community Paramedic, and the International Roundtable on Community Paramedicine with Funding Support from HRSA’s Office of Rural Health Policy, Colorado EMS and Trauma Services Section and the Colorado Rural Health Center.

5th Annual Disaster Planning for Hospitals Conference
Washington, DC
event site
Now more than ever, hospitals must develop a secure and effective disaster plan or risk losing the ability to deliver proper care and financial stability in the wake of a major incident. Whether dealing with a natural disaster, terrorist attack, or small scale occurrence, building a successful, efficient, and documented emergency preparedness plan must be a priority. Combining the successful attributes of our disaster conferences in the past, this year's redesigned program focuses on the current 2010 disaster planning trends. The conference provides proven strategies and actionable solutions to help hospitals effectively prepare their facilities for the challenges a disaster brings. This conference goes beyond the standard planning concerns to demonstrate how to create an effective disaster plan and manage the logistical and financial recovery process.
